Oba Femi Def. Je’Von Evans To Retain NXT Title At WWE NXT Heatwave, Ricky Saints Confronts Femi Post-Match

After downing one challenger, a new one stepped up.
Headlining NXT’s Heatwave Premium Live Event was Oba Femi defending his NXT Championship against Je’Von Evans.
The event took place in Lowell, Massachusetts, and the last time Evans was at that venue, his jaw was ‘broken’ by Ethan Page on an episode of NXT in late 2024.
In the Femi versus Evans bout, the assigned referee was knocked down after Femi inadvertently shoved Evans into him. Evans hit his signature moves and finish, and another referee slid into the ring and made the three count for Evans. The referee who had been knocked down noticed Femi’s foot was under the ropes, so he overruled the other official’s decision and continued the match.
Femi proceeded to chuck Evans over the top rope and sent him through the commentary table. He brought Evans back into the ring to finish him off and retained his NXT Championship.
Post-match, Ricky Saints entered the picture and confronted Femi. The next NXT Premium Live Event is No Mercy on September 27th in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Femi has been reigning as NXT Champion since January 2025 and has had nine successful title defenses.
