Oba Femi Is Glad He Gets To Face Cody Rhodes, ‘It’s The Current Best Against The Future Best’

NXT Champion Oba Femi will take on Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event in a clash between two men at the top of their brands.

The bout came together as part of John Cena’s suggestion to have main roster talent take on NXT talent at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, and Oba defeating Ricky Saints at NXT Deadline to regain the NXT Title.

Speaking to David Shoemaker & Kazeem Famuyide on Ringer Wrestling, Oba was asked if Cody is the perfect opponent for him as he makes his main roster debut.

“I feel like it’s based on the story and the build. I don’t know if Cody is ‘the perfect,’ but I know he’s the one in front of me right now, so he’s the one I’ll deal with. When there is no story, bo build, and not much going on behind it, the match is only as good as the story gets. The build up for a match is just as important as the match itself. Right now, I can’t really answer that question. All I can say is that I’m glad it’s Cody because we get to see the current best against the upcoming best, and it’s rare you get to see that collision. A lot of times, the upcoming guy is getting built, and we’re keeping him away from the big one and all that nonsense. Saturday, we get to see the present and future,” he said.

Femi retained the NXT Championship on Tuesday’s NXT by defeating Je’Von Evans.
