Oba Femi Leaves NXT Championship In The Ring After Retaining At New Year’s Evil

Headlining the 2026 NXT New Year’s Evil special was an NXT Championship match that saw Oba Femi defending the belt against TNA X Division Champion Leon Slater. Sitting ringside for the bout was TNA Wrestling President Carlos Silva.

Femi ended up defeating Slater in what was the second defense of his current NXT Title reign. After the match, Femi posed in the ring with the title and then proceeded to leave the belt in the ring.

Vignettes promoting Femi have been airing on Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown.

As the NXT Title was propped up in the ring, eyeing down the title was Tony D’Angelo.
