Orange Cassidy and Britt Baker believe that All Elite Wrestling is moving wrestling forward.
Since its launch in 2019, AEW has been a buzzworthy promotion, and it has continued to evolve by adding a number of top-level stars. This ongoing growth has helped AEW establish its place as a legitimate competitor in the wrestling landscape.
During a roundtable interview at San Diego Comic-Con, via Absolute Geek Podcast, Orange Cassidy described how AEW aims to break the stereotype of a typical professional wrestler, and he noted that Britt Baker is a fitting example of this quest, given her legitimate career as a dentist. He also stated that AEW is moving wrestling forward, whereas "that other company" is not.
"I think we’re trying to break the stereotypes of what a typical professional wrestler in the common person’s mind is. Probably like a big dumb roided-up idiot who doesn’t know what they’re doing, and I want to shatter that. Like she’s actually a dentist. She actually flies home early to actually look in people’s mouths, and she’s still a phenomenal wrestler. I think that’s, whatever that other company is doing is not helping move wrestling forward, and I think this place, we are," he said.
Baker weighed in by noting that AEW is a progressive company, as it doesn't confine wrestling to a specific box. She also pointed out that the product has something for everyone.
“It’s very progressive, I feel. It’s not so stereotypical and not staying in the box that wrestling has to be this. We really have everything on our show. We have someone like Darby Allin or Malakai Black, we have Orange Cassidy, we have the super technical Bryan Danielsons, we have the names that everybody knows and loves like Sting, Chris Jericho and CM Punk. We have a beautiful women’s division. We have something for everybody," Baker said.
Baker and Cassidy will both be in action on the August 3 episode of AEW Dynamite. You can check out the full card by clicking here.
