Ortiz Would Be Open To Reuniting With Mike Santana In Time

Ortiz and Mike Santana were one of the top tag teams in TNA and the independents before signing with AEW in 2019.
Though they were part of The Inner Circle with Chris Jericho during the early days of AEW TV, the duo never won the AEW Tag Team Titles before their on-screen and behind the scenes split in 2023. Santana would leave AEW in 2024 to join TNA Wrestling.
Appearing on Wombreezy, Ortiz was asked if he and Santana might reunite at some point in the future.
“I will say that…there is a part of me, a huge part of me, that I didn’t want the tag team to break up, only because I don’t feel we really fleshed out our full potential. There were signs of it, it was there. Really, we needed to still evolve as a team as far as the storytelling aspect in wrestling. In tag team wrestling, when it’s done well, it’s awesome. I feel we had glimmers of it, but we didn’t get to the top of our game as a tag team. If there was an opportunity, depending on the circumstances, I would say, with time, I would be open to it. I’m a believer in never say never. Anything can happen. The stars align the right way, and it makes all the sense in the world for it to happen. There is definitely a part of me that says ‘yes’ right away. Then, there is a part of me that is hesitant. Who knows. In 10 or 15 years, when we’re old and grizzled,” said Ortiz.
Ortiz has been off AEW TV since January 2024.
Elsewhere during the interview, Ortiz revealed how much time is left on his AEW contract. You can find his comments here.
