Our Lady Peace Re-Records Chris Benoit Theme ‘Whatever,’ Donating Money Earned To Suicide Prevention Initiatives

Our Lady Peace has re-recorded “Whatever,” which was used as the theme for Chris Benoit during his WWE run.

Benoit killed his wife Nancy and son Daniel before committing suicide in June 2007.

The band noted that all money made from the stream will go to suicide prevention initiatives. The song is now called “Whatever (Redux)”

From Our Lady Peace:

It’s been 23 years since the tragic events surrounding WWE wrestler Chris Benoit and the theme song we wrote for him.

We feel that enough time has passed that it was necessary to to re-record “Whatever” to help shine a light on suicide prevention and mental health awareness.

We’re donating all monies earned from streaming Whatever to suicide prevention initiatives across North America.

Fans can listen to the song in the video above.

In February, the band performed “Whatever” live in Calgary for the first time in 22 years. They stated that they wanted to reclaim the theme and acknowledged the “troubled past” of Benoit.
