Paige Recalls Cursing Out Dusty Rhodes After Rhodes Harped On Her About Promos

Paige shares the story of how she and Dusty Rhodes had a minor confrontation which led to Dusty explaining that he wanted Paige to succeed.

Formerly known as "The Anti-Diva", Paige got her start in WWE as a part of FCW which has since been converted into WWE's third brand NXT. Paige was able to hone her skills while in WWE developmental and learn from WWE Hall Of Famer Dusty Rhodes who Paige always mentions when she speaks about her growth as an in-ring performer and overall talent. While on the press tour for 'Fighting With My Family', Paige spoke with CinemaBlend and told the story of when she cursed out Dusty after Dusty harped on her about her promos. Paige concluded the story by sharing that Rhodes later explained that the only reason he got on her was because he wanted her to be the very best that she could be.

"I love Dusty who was my mentor and he was such a wonderful person. He was like my dad over here. He was like, ‘You’re like my broken toy baby. I just wanna put you back together again.’ But I remember when we came here [WWE Performance Center], we actually had a promo in this area before there was a room too, and he was on my case all the time talking about delivering promos because he just wanted me to be perfect and he just wanted me to be successful and I was just frustrated one day, so frustrated, and he was just like, ‘Baby, I asked you for chicken dinner and you give me chicken sh*t’, and I was just like, ‘F*ck you motherf*cker’ and stormed out -- and I run up these stairs and I go into the girls locker room and I remember him walking up the stairs -- he’s very slow." Paige joked. "Walks up the stairs, knocks on the door and he’s like, ‘Porcelain Princess, are you in there?’ And I was like, ‘What!?’ And he was like, ‘I never let anyone call me a motherf*cker, but I let you do it’ and I remember him just being like -- he tells me, ‘I just want you to be successful." Paige recalled. "When I’m hard on you, it’s because I want you to be the best you can be and I want you to be yourself’, because when I was trying to conform stuff, he would always be like, ‘What you doing baby? You’re goth! That’s what you are. You’re weird’. Yeah, you use that, utilize that. So, every time I would do something different, he was like, ‘No, no, no, you’re straying too far away. Stay yourself.'"

Paige is currently managing former NXT Women's Champions Kairi Sane and Asuka who have been rebranded as the "Kabuki Warriors". Sane and Asuka teamed throughout WWE's European tour and took on the Women's Tag Team Champions The IIconics.
