Tonight is the night when the women have the spotlight to themselves.
Live on the WWE Network tonight is WWE's first all-women's PPV 'Evolution'. The match card is stacked as competitors from the past, present and the future of World Wrestling Entertainment will be looking to make a statement while being a part of history. One of the women who is looked at as a pioneer of the current era of women's wrestling is the GM of SmackDown Live and former 3-time WWE Women's Champion Paige.
Prior to the 1000th episode of SmackDown Live on October 16th, Paige joined Dave LaGreca and WWE Hall Of Famer Mark Henry on Busted Open Radio and the trio discussed mistakes that they've made in the past, the progression of women's wrestling and much more. They also discussed Paige's role backstage in WWE now that she is no longer an active in-ring competitor and Paige stated that she has become a "mom" to some of the female talent and consistently gives them advice. Paige shared that the advice normally goes to Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville who she judged on 'Tough Enough' and worked with in her return run in 2017.
“Yeah, I do and I try especially when it comes to… I feel lke I kinda mum Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville a little bit because obviously I was in Tough Enough with them as their judge and then also they brought them up on the road with me when I first came back again, and so any time they have a match and stuff I’ll be like, ‘This would look really good if you did it this way’ and they’re so great that they listen too, and the same with The IIconics as well." Paige continued, "The girls always come up to me after every match and be like, ‘Well what you do think?’ and I love it because I can’t be in the ring anymore, so anything I can give back is amazing and then I can kind of live vicariously through them too. I’m like, ‘Well if you do this - this would be great’ so yeah. I love doing that kind of thing and sometimes… a lot of the girls are already super experienced that we have already. They've been doing it a long time so, I still kind of wait going up them and being like, ‘Hey, this would look way better’”. Paige said.
