The past year in wrestling has seen some of the top crossover matches of all-time with Pat McAfee and Shaquille O'Neal turning in classic performances.
At night one of WrestleMania 37, Bad Bunny added his name to that list, teaming with Damian Priest to defeat The Miz & John Morrison. Bad Bunny not only showed his respect for the business by holding the tag rope, but he showed off his moves in the ring by busting out a falcon arrow and Canadian destroyer.
Fans couldn't help but to compare his performance with McAfee's debut against Adam Cole.
Taking to social media, McAfee explained why he and Bunny are cut from the same cloth.
larger than life personas talking about & doing some of the coolest things imaginable..The suspension of disbelief came from watching folks commit their entire being to what they were doing. The walking, the talking, the wrestling.. the joy, the pain, the drama.. if SOLD properly— Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) April 11, 2021
hate.. 1. They were potentially taking a spot that somebody’s favorite full time wrestler could’ve had.. 2. They’re doing something that every fan wishes they could also be doing.. Or 3, they felt as if the outsider was just using wrestling & disrespecting the art.— Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) April 11, 2021
For me, I
myself for yrs & yrs.. nobody would understand what was going on..— Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) April 11, 2021
Tough 2 explain that I was preparing for a potential opportunity that nobody knew would show up or not.
Then it did.. it came time 2 utilize my film study throughout my entire fanhood life & buy ALL THE WAY in..
respected the business & ourselves so much that we didn’t want to be remembered as someone who came in from the outside and botched the opp.. We wanted to give the fans an opportunity to buy in and enjoy it.. Bad Bunny killed it..& I enjoyed the absolute hell out of it— Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) April 11, 2021

After Shaq said his match on AEW Dynamite was going to be the celebrity wrestling match ever, McAfee responded by simply saying, "It won't," leading to an exchange with Miro.
In March, McAfee discussed the possibility that he could have a match at WrestleMania. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
