Pat McAfee Recalls Almost Breaking His Wrist Running Away From Brock Lesnar Before WrestleMania

The 2023 Royal Rumble was a memorable night for the commentary duo of Corey Graves and Michael Cole as they were immediately greeted by a returning Pat McAfee who joined them at the desk.

During the men's Royal Rumble, Brock Lesnar snapped after being eliminated by Bobby Lashley. Lesnar grabbed the ring steps and smashed them on the announcers tables.

Michael Cole joined Pat McAfee on The Pat McAfee Show and the two reflected on the Royal Rumble incident when McAfee recalled another time Lesnar went wild at ringside.

"That was real close. How about when he was walking back towards us? What was that all about? I almost broke my hand the Friday before WrestleMania. Broke my wrist, almost. That was when Brock was beating the fuck out of everybody with the chair. He was walking back, I heard the countdown in my ear, we still had another 25 seconds on live air and Brock was nowhere near stopping what he was doing. He had already hit 10 people with a chair, just killing people. He was walking back towards the commentary table. I'm like, 'No, no no.' We ran through the ring bell area, and a cord being pulled by a camera person, trips me through my shin. I go down, I catch myself on pavement. I get up, 'Did I?' [rolls his wrist]. Could you imagine actually fucking with that guy? No way. He slammed those fucking stairs like Bam Bam," said McAfee.

McAfee ended up wrestling at WrestleMania 38, taking on Austin Theory and then Vince McMahon in singles competition.

Elsewhere during the show, McAfee discussed the original plan for his Royal Rumble return. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
