Paul Heyman To Big E: If You Accept That The New Day Is A Footnote In Your Story, The World Is Yours

Paul Heyman believes that Big E will one day be in the Hall of Fame provided that he allows himself to grow as a singles competitor and accept that The New Day is just a chapter in his career.

It has been a slow burn for Big E in his transition back to a singles competitor following six years alongside Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods as members of The New Day. When Kofi and Xavier were drafted to Monday Night Raw in the 2020 WWE Draft, Big E had no choice but to spread his wings as a singles competitor. Last week, he debuted a new theme song (performed by Wale), but this week, he suffered a minor setback as he lost to the dastardly Sami Zayn by count out.

Appearing on the latest episode of WWE Talking Smack, Big E stated that he would not allow the system to get him down before Paul Heyman would heap praise on “the muscle of the new day” stating that everyone in WWE both in front of and behind the camera, have been waiting for this version of Big E to surface.

“It's about damn time that this Big E came to the surface,” said Heyman. “This is the Big E that we've all been waiting and when I say 'we all' I mean every single member of this production crew, Kayla [Braxton] and all her contemporaries on the announcing staff, every member of that locker room, Roman Reigns himself, and I have all been waiting for this Big E. Because this is the Big E that one day goes into the WWE Hall of Fame. This is the Big E that Kofi and Xavier brag about even knowing and I mean no disrespect towards Kofi and Xavier, you know how much I respect and admire them, but truth be told, sir, the muscle behind The New Day was always Big E and now, you have a champion in your sights, which means you have a championship in your sights and Sami [Zayn] is the best first step in that direction for you because believe me, sir, when I tell you, a champion is only as great as the challengers that he puts down.

Paul Heyman would say that the sky's the limit for Big E, even comparing his potential growth away from The New Day to the growth of Roman Reigns following the disbanding of The Shield

“This Big E, a focused Big E, a singles championship-minded Big E has so much potential that ten years from now, as your story is being written, they will all say that the accomplishments that you did with The New Day pale by respectful comparison to the accomplishments that you will pull off on your own and I say that to you with the following [caveat], what you're going to accomplish in the next ten years will be mind-boggling, sir. I'm looking forward to seeing it as is everybody else, but you have to accept in your heart that The New Day will only be a footnote in the story of the greatness of Big E and if I may prove my case to you, I ask you a rhetorical question, when was the last time you saw Roman Reigns in the ring, and anybody even bothered to mention The Shield?”

Heyman would leave Big E in silence as he told Kayla to wrap up the program, making sure that his words to Big E were the last words heard on the program.
