Paul Heyman On Brand Supremacy: "There Is No Rivalry, WWE Raw Is Clearly The B-Show"

Paul Heyman doesn't see there being any rivalry between WWE Raw and SmackDown.

Appearing on a recent episode of Ariel Helwani Meets, the Tribal Chief's Special Counsel shared his thoughts on Monday night Raw, saying that it is clearly the B-Show. That said, he still wants to see the show perform well because that'll help create more stars for Roman Reigns to work with.

"There is no rivalry, SmackDown has beaten the shit out of Raw, Raw is clearly the B Show. There is no more competition. We won. I have no bitterness towards Raw. If Raw goes sour, it hurts SmackDown. If Raw goes sour, it hurts WWE. It hurts the stock. The stock goes sour, it hurts me personally. I don't want Raw to do bad. I wish Raw would do even better and provide stiffer competition to SmackDown because if a star emerges on Raw that Roman Reigns can draw box office with, we have another opponent. The problem with Roman Reigns is not the limit of his greatness, his greatness gets more defined as every performance is put forth. The problem with Roman Reigns is, we have such a limited number of people that we can viably and actually work with that people will look at and say, 'That's an opponent for Roman Reigns, that's someone I'd like to see challenge the Tribal Chief.' That's why Brock Lesnar's return is so huge because we don't have five other people waiting in the wings that automatically step up and can be a credible opponent for Roman Reigns," Heyman said.

In June 2019, Paul Heyman was announced as the new Executive Director of WWE Raw. Heyman filled the role until June 2020, when he was fired from the position and replaced by Bruce Prichard. It was reported that WWE wanted to streamline things into one writing time, noting that Heyman would remain with WWE as an on-camera presence. Immediately after SummerSlam 2020, Heyman began his alliance with Roman Reigns.

The Universal Champion is set to face Big E this Sunday, November 21 at WWE Survivor Series. Fightful will have live coverage of the show tomorrow beginning at 7 p.m. ET. The full card can be seen here.
