Paul Heyman: The Most Difficult Part Of Crafting Becky Lynch's Return Is Choosing One Story To Tell

Paul Heyman would love to have Becky Lynch back in WWE but says that the problem in trying to write a comeback for any star of that magnitude becomes how do you select the right storyline for their first big moment.

Becky Lynch made history at WrestleMania 35 when she won the first-ever main event of WrestleMania featuring women. She would go on to hold the WWE Raw Women's Championship for a full year, defending it successfully against Shayna Baszler at WrestleMania 36.

WrestleMania 36 would be her last match in WWE as she would subsequently announce her pregnancy a month later and currently, Becky Lynch is home enjoying her time as a mother to her and Seth Rollins’ first daughter, Roux.

Paul Heyman, a creative mastermind that has been heralded for years for his ability to accentuate the positive in any performer or situation, was asked how he would script a Becky Lynch return for WrestleMania 38 during his appearance on Sports Media with Richard Deitsch.

Paul, who put over Becky Lynch as a phenomenal performer, said that much like with any star that has reached that level, the challenge becomes choosing the proper story to run with.

“Oh, Becky Lynch is an extraordinary Talent. It would not only be very easy to write ‘Becky Lynch/2022 WrestleMania’ and the scenario, and the match, and how we get there. The most difficult thing about that, as it will be for what I envision for Roman Reigns, as it would be for how I would craft a Ronda Rousey scenario, or a Brock Lesnar scenario, the most difficult part would be editing it.”

Paul continued, “Because the flood of ideas for these extraordinary talents, who pushed themselves past their own limitations, is overwhelming at times and you can only pick so many different scenarios because you have to let them all play themselves out. So, coming up with something for Becky Lynch for next year's WrestleMania is not the problem. Which one you decide on is the key, is paramount to the process because there's an infinite number of scenarios that Becky Lynch would excel in, she's just that talented and that willing to push her talents past her own parameters.”

While almost every performer Paul Heyman mentioned will not be at this year's WrestleMania, Paul Heyman will be in the corner of the one that will. Roman Reigns will defend the WWE Universal Championship against Daniel Bryan and Edge in the main event of WrestleMania Sunday with his special counsel in his corner.

Fightful will have live coverage of both nights of WrestleMania 37.
