Paul Reubens (Pee Wee Herman), WrestleMania Guest And Slammy Winner, Passes Away

Paul Reubens has passed away at the age of 70.

According to a statement, Reubens was privately battling cancer.

Reubens was best known as playing the television character Pee Wee Herman.

“Last night we said farewell to Paul Reubens, an iconic American actor, comedian, writer and producer whose beloved character Pee-wee Herman delighted generations of children and adults with his positivity, whimsy and belief in the importance of kindness,” wrote Reubens’ estate in the caption. “Paul bravely and privately fought cancer for years with his trademark tenacity and wit. A gifted and prolific talent, he will forever live in the comedy pantheon and in our hearts as a treasured friend and man of remarkable character and generosity of spirit.”

In the world of wrestling, Reubens appeared on the November 1, 2010 episode of WWE Raw in a backstage segment with The Miz and Alex Riley. Reubens also appeared at WrestleMania XXVII in a segment with The Rock and Gene Okerlund where he admitted to being John Cena's number one fan.

Reubens won a 2010 Slammy Award for Guest Star Shining Moment of the Year.
