Paul Wight made an appearance on the March 3 episode of AEW Dynamite where he hyped the "Hall of Fame worthy" signing set to debut at AEW Revolution.
During his promo, Wight accidentally called the event "Evolution," which created a whole new round of speculation as to who the mystery man would be.
It was not Batista.
Appearing on Renee Paquette's Oral Sessions, Wight discussed his flub and how it was brushed off backstage, which may not have happened elsewhere.
"I called Revolution, Evolution. Elevation is also thrown in. There are a lot of tongue twisters, but nobody jumped my ass or have somebody go, 'Oh, are you stupid? You don't know the name of the goddamn pay-per-view? No one is going to buy it and it's your fault.' You work for a guy who is a perfectionist and holds himself to a higher standard and holds everyone around him to that standard. It can be hard to work in that situation. My favorite line with Vince is, 'I'll take it under advisement,' which means 'shut the fuck up.' I learned so much from working there like how to be an entertainer and psychology and these are tools I can help younger guys. Not necessarily that style because the environment over there is created to be a competitive shark tank environment. It's done that way by design because the guy at the top is a fighter, that's what he does. He wants confrontation. That's a great environment, but sometimes it's conducive to being as creative as you want because when that person has a certain vision, that's the vision mandated," said Wight.
Wight will serve as the color commentator for AEW Dark: Elevation, which premieres on March 15.
Elsewhere during the podcast, Wight discussed his decision to leave WWE for AEW. You can find his full comments by clicking here.
