Fightful Select reported on January 11 that Avalon's contract with AEW was set to expire. In the social media post, Avalon did not confirm he was no longer with AEW.

Fightful Select's report read as followed:

It was reported recently that several AEW contracts were set to expire as the company's first round of deals are coming due at various times.. Fightful learned that as of mid-December, Peter Avalon's deal was set to expire over the next few weeks, but haven't learned an official status. We've reached out to Avalon and AEW to find out if the deal has been extended or renewed or expired, but have yet to hear back from Avalon, and AEW noted they don't discuss talent contracts. However, we've learned that internally there were plans for Avalon to appear at an upcoming Dark taping, as he was pulled from a planned booking at Zicky Dice's Outlandish Paradise.

Avalon primarily has competed on AEW Dark as a part of the Wingmen with Ryan Nemeth, Cezar Bononi and JD Drake. He continued to work the independent circuit as well, working for UWN and other promotions, in addition to appearing in several CarShield commercials.

Fightful will provide more information on Avalon's status with AEW as it is known.
