PR Firm Cultural Counsel Restructuring, Founder Adam Abdalla Transitioning To New Role

Changes within Cultural Counsel.

The PR firm Cultural Counsel is undergoing changes as the firm’s leader and founder of PRODUCE Wrestling, Adam Abdalla, will move to a new role.

Senior Vice President Marcella Zimmerman is assuming the role of public-facing affairs. ARTNews noted the following in their write-up about the story:

“In a statement to ARTnews on Wednesday, Abdalla, who will retain ownership of the company, said he is “no longer involved with day-to-day account management” at Cultural Counsel, though he characterized his role at the firm since the beginning as being more focused on the company’s big picture. He added that he has launched six projects this past summer and that he has “had conversations with my team identifying a managerial management plan that have been going on since last spring. The announcement of a new leader of CC is imminent, and the transition is underway.” As part of this change, Abdalla said he is now “focused on the development of new intellectual properties, including sports and art projects, movie production, and documentary work for television.”

There was a staff shakeup and quiet exodus of senior leadership from Cultural Counsel. ARTNews added that post-COVID, the firm had just over 30 employees and, according to sources close to the firm, it is now around 18 employees.

A former Cultural Counsel staffer told ARTnews in anonymity that there was internal disappointment about the company’s shift in focus.

“I can confirm there is disappointment [within Cultural Counsel] with certain behaviors from leadership. Cultural Counsel has become a totally different operation.”

The individual suggested that the shift came from moving the focus from visual art to pro wrestling.
