Pre-Trial Hearing Set For 8/20 In Sonya Deville Stalker Case

Phillip A. Thomas II is set to go to pre-trial. 

According to Mike Johnson at PWInsider, a pre-trial hearing has been set for Thursday, August 20 in the case against Thomas II, who was arrested for stalking and breaking into the home of Sonya Deville. He has been charged with aggravated stalking, armed burglary of a dwelling, attempted armed kidnapping, and criminal mischief.

The hearing is to determine whether Thomas should be held without bail or if he should be allowed to post bond and be allowed out of incarceration while waiting for the case to go to trial. 

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Thomas was attempting to kidnap Deville when he broke into her residence in Lutz, Florida after stalking her for years. The abduction had been planned for eight months according to the news release.

Thomas came from South Carolina, specifically targeting the homeowner.

Sonya wrote on social media after the incident, "Thank you everyone for your love and concern. A very frightening experience but thankfully everyone is safe. A special thank you to Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office for their response and assistance."
