A new name for Punishment Martinez.
We haven't seen much of Punishment Martinez since he signed with NXT at the end of 2018. And now, it looks like we won't be seeing him as Punishment Martinez at all.
In a feature on the WWE Performance Center in Sports Business Journal, it was revealed that Martinez will be "rebranded" as Damien Priest, a newer and darker character. “I’ve always been into the weird, the odd, the dark, so that’s the character I’ve always represented,” Martinez said.
Martinez does not have a current profile up on WWE's website.
He has only appeared once on NXT television, losing to Matt Riddle on the Dec. 5 episode of the program. He is a regular at NXT live events.
Later in the profile piece, Martinez said, “I’m not a patient person, but I’m a positive impatient. I’m not willing to just stand by. I’m going to keep pushing until something sticks.”
Martinez is a former ROH Television Champion, leaving the company in October 2018 to join NXT. It is unknown when he will debut his character on NXT television.
