QT Marshall Recalls Training With Shaquille O’Neal For AEW Match, ‘He Really Put In The Work’
QT Marshall has high praise for Shaquille O’Neal.
In 2021, O’Neal teamed with Jade Cargill to face Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet in a mixed tag match on AEW Dynamite. The match was widely liked by fans, with some saying it was one of the best celebrity matches in history at the time.
Speaking with Denise Salcedo for a new interview, QT Marshall recalled training with O’Neal for the match, saying that he was really putting in the work.
“You know what, he put in a lot of work. I would do the normal class until about 10 or 11 o’clock at night and then he would show up and I would stay later with him and he really put in the work. I mean, he had ideas of what he wanted to do, it was just teaching him how to do it without really hurting somebody. Especially at that time, it was going to be Cody, right? So, obviously we couldn’t really injure him. He took it so seriously. It tells to what kind of athlete he is, which is why he was at the top of the basketball world and he’s basically at the top of every business that he ever goes into because he takes it very seriously and puts all the effort in. I wish he would’ve been able to do that in front of 10 or 15,000 people instead of Jacksonville but we still had a big crowd there. I know he had a lot of fun and I know Tony would really like him back. He was in the ambulance and then he disappeared, we never saw him again. Who knows? We’ll leave the door open but you never know.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Marshall praised Tony Khan for collaborating with talent while still keeping his vision intact. Check out his full comments by clicking here.
