R-Truth Says He Had To Smoke On TV Because Vince McMahon Caught Him Smoking For Real

R-Truth explains why he had to smoke on TV.

On the April 18th, 2011 edition of WWE Monday Night RAW, a night long storyline took place between Truth and John Morrison where Morrison would mock Truth for his smoking habit. Later in the night, the two men would face off, and Truth would take a pack of cigarettes from an audience member, lighting one up before blowing smoke in Morrison's face.

While speaking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Truth would explain where the moment came from, admitting that Vince McMahon had caught him smoking for real and punished him by making him smoke on live TV.

"Vince had caught me smoking, for real. So he's like, You gonna smoke in front of the whole [arena], and it was illegal. You can't do that over there [because you're in an arena], you can't do that. I broke the rules, $20,000 fine, legit for a shoot. [You paid it?] Hell no! I had paying potential, but no!"

This edition of Monday Night RAW would take place in London, England, where smoking indoors was illegal in 2011.

Elsewhere in the same interview, Truth spoke about John Cena's recent heel turn. You can read more about that here.
