Randy Orton finally gives an explanation as to why he attacked Edge, but it came at the expense of Beth Phoenix getting hit with an RKO.
Towards the end of tonight's episode of Raw, Phoenix entered the arena to give a medical update on her husband Edge's condition. Before Phoenix was about to give an update on Edge, Randy Orton made his way to the ring to meet her. Orton extended his hand to Phoenix as an olive branch, but Phoenix rejected it, calling him a "son of a bitch."
Afterwards, Orton told a story of how he first met Edge before Orton became a wrestler and how the two of them would work together years later. Orton then finally explained that he attacked Edge because he wanted to save him from someone potentially inflicting permanent damage to Edge. Orton then placed the blame on Phoenix for enabling him to eventually return to the ring, calling Edge a "junkie for the crowd reaction."
At the end of it all, Phoenix slapped Orton and Orton responded by hitting an RKO on her. The show went off the air with Natalya, Rey Mysterio and other superstars coming to her aid.
