Randy Orton had made some promises ahead of his potential final match against John Cena at WWE Backlash.
On the May 2 episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, Randy Orton addressed his upcoming match against John Cena. For the first time on WWE TV, John Cena is presented as a heel, and Randy Orton is presented as a babyface. Orton says that he's known for years how selfish John Cena is. He also spoke about how John threatened to erase his family's legacy.
Randy Orton, who never got the opportunity to punt Kevin Owens at WrestleMania like he wanted, promised to punt John Cena's head off his shoulders when they face off, but not before dropping him again with an RKO.

In years past, Orton punted John Cena's father in the head, and John Cena Sr. would get the opportunity to return the favor at WWE Unforgiven 2007. Orton is ready to give Cena one last punt as their rivalry draws to an inevitable close with Cena retiring this year.
John Cena will return to WWE SmackDown on May 9 to address the WWE universe and Randy Orton one more time before WWE Backlash on May 10.
