Smackdown Live has a new acquisition.
Former World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger appeared on Smackdown Live Tuesday night, and announced that he'd signed with the brand. On Monday night, Swagger lost to Jinder Mahal on Monday Night Raw.
After the match, Swagger was seen backstage and simply breathed heavily when he was interviewed. It was mentioned that his time was running out on Raw, as his contract was set to expire soon, setting up his opportunity to move over to Smackdown live.
The 34-year old Swagger is a former ECW Champion, and would win the Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania XXVI. He'd capture the World Heavyweight Championship just one night later. He'd hold the title until June, before being removed from the main event scene for years.
Swagger's most recent successes came ahead of WrestleMania 29, when he entered a feud with Alberto Del Rio. Swagger would unsuccessfully challenge for the World title at that year's WrestleMania, before moving into a tag team with Cesaro.
