Red Velvet is about to get a major opportunity as she and Cody Rhodes challenged Jade Cargill and Shaquille O’Neal to a match that could take place at AEW Revolution.
The mixed tag team match seemed to be lined up for Cody's wife Brandi Rhodes, but the couple announced Brandi was pregnant in December. As a result, Brandi's on-screen friend and protege Red Velvet will step into the spot. While Velvet has remained quiet throughout her time in AEW, she let out plenty of frustration on Wednesday's AEW Dynamite.
"It got to a point where I had been attacked, jumped, Brandi got injured and the non-stop jokes about the pregnancy. Throughout this sequence of events, no one had ever heard me say a word. It was a nice moment that I was able to get out there and let her known how I felt about her ass. I'm ready to stir her bitch ass up," Velvet said on Brisco & Big Ace Show.
Before Velvet came out for her promo, Arn Anderson put her over for showing fire and proving why she's a future star in the business.
Speaking about Arn's words, Velvet said, "It was very humbling and it was an honor to have him talk about me that way or even give me that type of introduction. Who am I, right? It was a little nerve-racking but I was angrier than anything, so it was like tunnel vision and I just wanted to get my point across that I was over her shit. I could hear what was going on prior to coming out but when my music hit, I just grabbed the mic and was pissed."
AEW has yet to confirm Cody & Red vs. Shaq & Jade, though Shaq has stated that he will wrestle Cody, seemingly accepting the challenge.
