Renee Paquette comments on Edge potentially coming to All Elite Wrestling.
Adam "Edge" Copeland recently had what he says will be his final match in front of a Toronto crowd against Sheamus on the August 18 episode of Friday Night SmackDown. However, the WWE Hall of Famer has not specified whether or not this was his final match of all time.
Speculation has persisted that Edge could potentially end up in AEW alongside his best friend Christian Cage, Matt and Jeff Hardy, Chris Jericho, and many others that he came up in the industry with, as well as several names he has yet to face.
Commenting on the possibility of Edge coming to AEW, Renee Paquette says that mere thought gives her goosebumps, and it's something she would personally like to see.
“It gives me goosebumps. Like, the idea of that happening," she said to Rick Ucchino of Cageside Seats. "Not only just as a Canadian and as a kid growing up, watching Edge in WWE and watching his career, but to get to know him as a human. To get to know him and his wife, Beth Phoenix. They’re just such incredible, like top-notch, world-class human beings. To be able to watch what he was able to do and wrap up his last match in Toronto. What a storybook ending for him.”
Renee Paquette also spoke highly of the idea of an Edge & Christian reunion. The last time they reunited was in the 2021 Royal Rumble when Christian returned to wrestling and Edge actually went wire to wire during the match to punch his ticket to WrestleMania 37. However, that moment occurred inside the WWE Thunderdome and not in front of a live audience.
Paquette says she knows that this reunion is the type of thing wrestling fans' dreams are made of.
“Imagine seeing the two of them reuniting and having this like one last hurrah. Like, that is a wrestling fan’s dream.”
For now, moments like an Edge and Christian reunion will have to live on in fan's dreams as Edge recently stated his WWE contract does not officially expire until the end of September. Read more here.
