Report: 8/23 IMPACT Wrestling Doubling As Backdoor Pilot For Potential Studio Series

Friday's IMPACT set to serve two purposes.

Mike Johnson at PWInsider reports that tomorrow's edition of IMPACT will serve as a backdoor pilot for a potential studio style, which could become a secondary series for IMPACT Wrestling if and when the flagship IMPACT program finds a new home on cable.

IMPACT currently airs every Friday at 10 p.m. ET on Pursuit. The show has run into a host of problems on the network, including airing the wrong episode and commercials airing for the final 30 minutes of the program. IMPACT was reportedly in negotiations with AXS TV, but the deal never came to be. IMPACT officials reportedly floated the idea of buying AXS after the two sides could not reach an agreement on a television deal.

Tomorrow's show was taped at the Championship Wrestling from Hollywood venue and has been named "Cali Combat." The show will be headlined by Michael Elgin taking on Rhino in a grudge match, Sami Callihan vs. Tommy Dreamer, and Rich Swann getting his X Division Title rematch against Jake Crist.

IMPACT also airs weekly on Twitch for fans without Pursuit. Fightful provides live coverage of IMPACT every week at 10 p.m. ET on Friday.
