Report: A24's 'The Smashing Machine', Starring The Rock, Set To Begin Filming On May 1

'The Smashing Machine' is getting ready for production.

According to a new report from PWInsider, the A24 movie, which stars Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson as Mark Kerr, will be in production for three months, starting on May 1, 2024 and ending on August 1, 2024. Production for the movie will reportedly take place in Los Angeles, New Mexico, Tokyo and Vancouver.

The movie, which will be directed and written by Benny Safdie, will center around the life of former MMA star Mark Kerr. The film is being adapted from a 2002 documentary about Kerr that was produced by HBO.

As of publish time, Emily Blunt is the only other cast member that has been announced for the movie, as she will portray Kerr's wife, Dawn Staples. Blunt is coming off of an Academy Award nomination for her portrayal of Kitty Oppenheimer in the film 'Oppenheimer'.

The Rock is set to return to the ring for the first time since 2013 at WrestleMania 40, as he will team with Roman Reigns to face off against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins on the first night of the event.
