Report: Announcers Told To Call Goldberg/Lesnar As A Fight

According to a report, WWE wanted Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg was to be portrayed as a fight, both on screen and on commentary.

Per Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, announcers Michael Cole, Byron Saxton and Corey Graves were all told to call the main event of Survivor Series like a fight, setting it apart from everything else on the show. Fightful was told that the announce team was very receptive of the challenge.

Meltzer said that WWE officials feel as if today's viewers are used to quick finishes in mixed martial arts that they wouldn't feel shortchanged. While it's almost unprecedented in modern WWE, the WWE felt confident in ending the match quickly under the guise that 'anything can happen.'

Goldberg announced that he'd be joining January's Royal Rumble match, as he tries to gain the WWE Universal Championship.
