Davey Boy Smith is reportedly coming to the WWE Hall of Fame this year.
Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Smith, who also wrestled as Th British Bulldog, is going to be inducted on this year?s WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. PWInsider reported that it has independently confirmed the initial report from Meltzer.
During his time wrestling for the WWF, Smith held a number of titles, including the Intercontinental, European and Tag Team titles. Smith had multiple stints with WWF and in his second stint with the company, he headlined the 1992 edition of SummerSlam, which took place at Wembley Stadium in England. On that show, Smith defeated Bret Hart to win the Intercontinental title.
Throughout his wrestling career, Smith also wrestled for WCW, All Japan Pro Wrestling and Stampede Wrestling. Smith died back in 2002 at the age of 39 years old due to a heart attack he suffered while on vacation in British Columbia.
Smith is just the latest name reported to be heading into this year?s class with Jushin Thunder Liger and The Bella Twins also reportedly being in, despite WWE having not officially confirmed it. Those who are confirmed for this year?s class are Batista and the group of Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, Kevin Nash and Sean Waltman representing the New World Order.
The WWE Hall of Fame ceremony is scheduled for April 2 at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. The ceremony is part of the WrestleMania 36 weekend festivities.
