Plenty of interest in the former UFC Heavyweight Champion.
ESPN's Marc Raimondi reports that Cain Velasquez is set to have an informal meeting with New Japan Pro Wrestling officials. Velasquez is in San Francisco on Saturday for the second night of the Super J-Cup. Raimondi goes on to report that "several other wrestling promotions" have interest in Velasquez, though the promotions are not named,
Velasquez still has two more dates to work for Lucha Libre AAA. He will reportedly compete at AAA's Sept. 15 event at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden and the Oct. 13 event at The Forum in Inglewood, California.
On Aug. 3 at AAA TripleMania XXVII, Velasquez made his pro wrestling debut, teaming with Psycho Clown & Cody Rhodes to defeat Taurus, Texano Jr. & Killer Kross. Velasquez received rave reviews for his performance, which included a hurricanrana and a springboard armdrag. After the match, Cody said Velasquez should not have been as good as he was in his first match.
Velasquez is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion who holds a victory over Brock Lesnar. His only fight in the last three years came in February when he was KO'd by Francis Ngannou.
