Report: Cody Rhodes Believed To Be Shooting On TKO Inserting Pat McAfee Into Storyline On WWE SmackDown

New details on the segments involving Cody Rhodes, Pat McAfee and Randy Orton on WWE SmackDown.

SmackDown opened with Pat McAfee being revealed as the mystery man on the phone with Randy Orton with McAfee attacking Cody Rhodes, and then cutting a promo about the state of the WWE product, saying the product sucks, ratings and ticket sales are low, and Cody was failing as the leader of the business.

Later in the night, Cody responded, saying that McAfee being the mystery man was on the level of Disco Inferno being the third man in the NWO and expressing his unhappiness with those up top who brought McAfee in.

According to PWInsider, Rhodes’ promo was not listed internally in the rundown, and “There is a belief among some that some of Rhodes’ comments were him shooting about TKO having inserted McAfee into the storyline.”

Bodyslam+ reports, “Rhodes and other members of the creative team have legitimate gripes with TKO for sticking their nose in storylines close to WrestleMania multiple years in a row.”

Rhodes is set to defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against Orton at WrestleMania 42.
