Report: Drew McIntyre And Bobby Lashley Pitched The Idea To Work Together

The feud between Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre was a bit out of left field as Lashley lost at WrestleMania and seemed to be treading water in a storyline with Lana. Meanwhile, McIntyre had just vanquished Brock Lesnar to win the WWE Title before knocking off Seth Rollins in his first challenge.

According to Louis Dangoor of WrestleTalk, McIntyre and Lashley pitched the idea of working together post-WrestleMania as they had previously worked together in TNA and saw value in a WWE feud. McIntyre and Lashley reportedly enjoyed working together in TNA and knew they could deliver in WWE if given a chance.

Dangoor goes on to report that Paul Heyman, who was recently removed from his role as executive director on Raw, wanted to give Lashley a main event run. Heyman helped put together their WWE Championship match at Backlash with the finish reportedly being something that Vince McMahon wanted to see.

Lashley and McIntyre worked against each other multiple times in TNA, including a headlining bout for the TNA World Heavyweight Title at TNA Slammiversary XIV.

McIntyre was victorious over Lashley at WWE Backlash following a botched distraction by Lana.
