Report: Dynamite Kid Episode Of Dark Side Of The Ring Set For Season 3

Dark Side of the Ring is reportedly set to cover one of the more well-known tragic stories in the world of professional wrestling.

In the past, Dark Side of the Ring has covered such tragic stories in wrestling as the Chris Benoit double murder-suicide in 2007, Owen Hart tragically passing away at WWE Over the Edge 1999, and the multiple suicides that have taken the lives of many in the Von Erich Dynasty. Now, the VICELAND series is set to cover the tragic story of Tommy “The Dynamite Kid” Billington.

IPW Defiance Results (4/21): Multiple Title Matches

According to a report from Mike Johnson, the producers for the series have filmed content for an episode based around Billington’s life featuring interviews from his first wife Michelle, their children, and his former sister-in-law, Julie Hart. Billington was a star of the Stampede Wrestling promotion, headed by Stu Hart.

A former WWE Tag Team Champion, The Dynamite Kid was one of the standout stars of the 1980s known for his revolutionary matches with Tiger Mask that are often considered a pioneering effort that inspired the fast-paced style that is still popular today.

Later in life, Billington was left bound to a wheelchair, having lost the use of his left leg in 1997 after a number of back and leg injuries suffered throughout his career. Billington also suffered a stroke in 2013. He would pass away on his 60th birthday in 2018.

PWInsider also reports that VICELAND will be airing a special related to the series entitled “ Dark Side of the Ring: Confidential.” The series will feature an overview of past episodes and future episodes as well as Conrad Thompson interviewing the creators of the series. The interview was filmed last year at the former ECW Arena. The special is slated to debut on Tuesday, March 9.

Additional topics slated to be covered this season are the life of Chris Kanyon, the life of Bruiser Bedlam, the story of XPW, the story of WCW Collision in Korea, and the Life of Brian Pillman Sr.
