The latest news on Edge.
Mike Johnson at PWInsider reports that Edge is in Pittsburgh, PA on "WWE business." Johnson notes that Pittsburgh is the headquarters of Dr. Joseph Maroon, the head of WWE's Medical.
There has been a lot of rumors and speculation regarding the status of Edge and a potential in-ring return with WWE. On Sept. 27, Edge announced that he would be leaving the Edge & Christian Pod of Awesomeness due to scheduling and time constraints.
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer that the idea of Edge returning had been "privately discussed" in WWE, but there was no guarantee that he would be cleared for competition due to his neck injury and cervical vertebral fusion that forced him to retire in 2011. Edge was cleared to deliver a Spear At WWE SummerSlam in August.
There was speculation that Edge had been cleared prior to SmackDown's debut on Fox on Oct. 4, but 'The Rated R Superstar' seemingly shot down those rumors in a tweet sent near the end of the show.
No I’m not and no I’m not.— Adam (Edge) Copeland (@EdgeRatedR) October 5, 2019
Edge did not appear on the Fox premiere of SmackDown. As of this writing, Edge has not been officially cleared for competition by WWE.
Fightful will continue to update fans on the status of Edge as more information is known.
