Report: Elias Out With Legitimate Torn Pectoral Muscle

Elias was struck down by a car on the May 29 episode of WWE SmackDown, taking him out of the Intercontinental Title tournament.

WWE announced Elias had "suffered broken ribs and a torn pectoral muscle" on May 30. It turns out, part of WWE's injury update is true.

According to John Pollock of POST Wrestling, Elias did suffer a legitimate torn pectoral muscle, which will keep him out of action for the foreseeable future. There is no timetable for his return and it is unknown when the injury occurred.

Elias, who defeated King Corbin in the first round of the Intercontinental Title tournament, was set to compete against AJ Styles in the semi-finals of the tournament. Instead, WWE wrote him out of the match by shooting an angle where he was hit by a car, which was allegedly driven by a drunk Jeff Hardy in a hit-and-run incident.

Elias has had tough injury luck over the past year. He suffered an ankle injury during the King of the Ring 2019, which took him out of the tournament. He was sidelined for two months with the injury but returned to WWE SmackDown as a babyface in November.
