Report: EVIL Signs With WWE

EVIL reportedly headed to WWE.
According to Mike Johnson at PWInsider, EVIL has signed with WWE. The report states, “We are told the expectation in Japan is that he will not keep the EVIL ring name.”
He is a former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, two-time IWGP Tag Team Champion, and four-time NEVER Openweight Champion.
He departed NJPW in January.
Fightful Select published the following report regarding his status on January 27:
EVIL is leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Fightful reported a number of weeks ago that EVIL was looking to possibly exit NJPW, and evaluating his options outside of the company after being there for over a decade. That has been confirmed, as he is leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling.
When evaluating options outside of NJPW, WWE and other Japanese companies are the likely options. EVIL has been backstage at a number of WWE events, supporting those close to him, and we’re told that there have been talks between the two sides. Those we spoke to in NJPW expect there to be options for him in Japan, but they expect him to try to relocate to the United States.
AEW is not expected as a landing point.
Fightful will provide more details on EVIL’s status with WWE when they are known.
