As the weeks passed, Uso was absent by the side of Roman Reigns and was removed from the Men's Royal Rumble graphic on the January 29 WWE SmackDown.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, Uso was not medically cleared to compete in the match. A medical reason was not given for his absence and it is unknown when he will return.

Jey's brother Jimmy Uso is also currently sidelined with a leg injury. Jimmy did appear at WWE Hell in a Cell, getting involved in Jey's match against Reigns. In an October 2020 interview, Jey said Jimmy would be back in action in January 2021.

Jimmy's wife Naomi did make her return in the Women's Royal Rumble, entering at number two. She had been off television since August 21, 2020 and underwent surgery to remove a fibroid in September 2020.
