Joey Styles has reportedly been released from the WWE after over a decade with the company.
According to Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, former Monday Night Raw and ECW play-by-play announcer Joey Styles was released from the WWE, although there's no solid timetable as to when it happened. Satin pointed out that Styles' last tweet was July 29, not long after Styles held a Facebook Q&A in which he openly criticized aspects of the WWE.
It wasn't all criticism, however, as Styles said that he wouldn't doubt WWE Chairman Vince McMahon about pushing Roman Reigns.
?The bottom line is, if our chairman thinks he sees a future star as a babyface, that?s how things are going to play out. The answer is Vince thinks it can work. He?s been right much more than wrong over the course of the last 40 years. I?m sorry, but I?m not going to second-guess the chairman," said Styles.
In addition to his spot as ECW's top announcer and brief run as Raw play-by-play man, Styles worked for WWE.com for eight years, reaching the position of Vice President of Digital Media Content. Styles said in numerous interviews that he was happy with the job, and wasn't interested in commentating again, but would occasionally lend his voice to action figure based matches posted on WWE's YouTube.
