Cena, a 16-time world champion, returned to WWE on the June 27 episode of WWE Raw and celebrated his 20th anniversary with the company. WWE Smackdown Viewership Numbers Since 2019

Joe Otterson of Variety reports that Cena is set to appear on the December 30 episode of SmackDown, which will emanate from Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. In a tweet, WWE subsequently confirmed the news. Otterson cited a source with knowledge of the situation, who indicated that more announcements for the episode are planned in the coming weeks. As of this writing, it's unclear how Cena will be involved on the show.

Cena returned to WWE at Money in the Bank 2021 and confronted Universal Champion Roman Reigns. The two stars feuded over the next several weeks, and Reigns defeated Cena to retain the title at WWE SummerSlam. Cena then wrestled in a dark match on the September 10 taping of SmackDown, which was held at Madison Square Garden.

Logan Paul recently stated that he has texted Triple H about a match against Cena at WrestleMania 39. More information is available here.
