Report: John Hennigan Interested In Competing For NJPW

Is "The Face Of Lucha Underground" headed to NJPW?

Former Lucha Underground Champion John Hennigan has been in the pro wrestling business for fourteen years and has competed for a number of promotions and companies making a name for himself. Hennigan has been a part of DDT Pro Wrestling, AAA, Lucha Underground, Ohio Valley Wrestling where he began his career in the sport, and WWE where he was a 3-time Intercontinental Champion.

Hennigan has also ventured into the land of Hollywood as went to the lengths of selling his own home to help finance his movie 'Boone: The Bounty Hunter' and earlier this month it was reported that Hennigan will be a cast member on the 37th season of the 'CBS' TV show 'Survivor'.

Hennigan is looking to continue to add to his resume' according to Dave Meltzer in his latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Meltzer is reporting that there is interest on Hennigan's behalf to compete for New Japan Pro Wrestling. Over the past few years the popularity of NJPW has increased greatly with a number of big-name talents competing for the company. The report notes that Hennigan's relationship with AAA may be what will prevent him from making the jump to NJPW. New Japan normally does not use talent from AAA seeing as how they have a working relationship with CMLL. NJPW sends some of their 'Young Lions' to CMLL to develop character after they have completed their duties as young boys and as seen earlier this year, CMLL and NJPW teamed up to present a multi-day string of shows entitled 'Fantastica Mania' which was held inside of 'Korakuen Hall'.
