New reported details about Kalisto being unhappy with his position with the Lucha House Party during the back end of his run with WWE.
Kalisto is a former WWE United States Champion, former WWE Cruiserweight Champion, and former NXT Tag Team Champion, but towards the end of his run with WWE, he was mostly known as a member of the Lucha House Party along with Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado.
The group was together for several years before splitting in 2020 with it appearing that Kalisto was going to go on to have a run as a heel after being very egomaniacal in his presentation with the group in the end. While promos would be filmed with Kalisto and run on social media, the character never received any major push and he was released by WWE on Thursday, April 15, 2021.
A new report from Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, notes that Kalisto was not happy being a part of the act and how the trio was booked, and reportedly, the split of the group was a move to “pacify” the former WWE United States Champion.
Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado would be moved over to Monday Night Raw and even go on to have time on the NXT roster with Metalik getting a shot at Santos Escobar and the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.
Following his release, Kalisto’s wife released a statement on her Instagram saying that the best is yet to come for him. Learn more here.
