Report: Kane Suffered An Injury To His Achilles Tendon Prior To 'Extreme Rules'

Some insight on why things happened the way they did this past Sunday.

This past Sunday at WWE's 'Extreme Rules' PPV, the reuniting 'Team Hell No' were scheduled to challenge The Bludgeon Brothers for the SmackDown Live Tag Team Championships. Prior to the match Harper and Rowan were shown on-screen giving a beat-down to both Daniel Bryan and Kane. Rowan capped off the attack by slamming a door onto Kane's ankle.

The tag team bout still took place as for the first portion of it--it was a handicap match where Bryan took on both Harper and Rowan. Kane made his way down to the ring halfway through the match and the ankle that was crushed between the door earlier in the night was in a walking boot. Daniel Bryan and Kane were unsuccessful in their attempt to once again become WWE Tag Team Champions and it was announced by WWE after the match that Kane suffered a broken ankle.

Kane did not make an appearance on this past Tuesday's SmackDown Live and PWInsider shed some light on the news that WWE sent out in the embedded tweet above. The site noted that Kane suffered an injury to his Achilles tendon during the 'Extreme Rules' go-home show for SmackDown Live which is why the segment took place prior to the Tag Team Championship match at the PPV and the injury is also the reason why Kane returned to the match with a walking boot. It was added that Kane is not expected to be returning to WWE TV anytime soon as he is closing in on his push to become mayor of Knox County, TN.
