Report: Matches Planned For NXT TakeOver: Tampa That NXT Could Do Are Done

NXT's TakeOver: Tampa show never came to fruition, but most of the matches planned for the event are done.

According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, after this week everything planned for that show that NXT can do except the Adam Cole vs. Velveteen Dream match is done. The report specified matches that NXT could do because there was a planned tag team title match, which was either going to be Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne defending their belts against Zack Gibson & James Drake, or a three-way with Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly, that can't be made.

The reason for that is because Dunne, Gibson and Drake can't get into the United States. The same goes for a planned match between WALTER and Finn Balor as WALTER also can't get into the country.

In recent weeks, a number of notable matches took place on NXT television. Keith Lee defended his North American Championship against Dominik Dijakovic and Damian Priest, Io Shirai won a ladder match to become the new No. 1 Contender to Charlotte's NXT Women's Championship and Johnny Gargano defeated Tommaso Ciampa in "One Final Beat."

Cole and Dream have been feuding for weeks with Dream gunning for Cole's NXT Championship. A match between the two has not been made, but Dream did defeat Cole's Undisputed Era stablemate Bobby Fish on the April 1 episode of NXT.
