New details have come to light regarding how WWE's mass cuts have hindered the release of WWE 2K22.

WWE 2K22 is hoping to revitalize the franchise after WWE 2K20 was filled with bugs that rendered the game, at times, completely unplayable. while they were set for a typical release of Fall 2021, WWE has also undergone massive changes as it pertains to their roster and according to a new report, these roster changes have directly hurt plans for WWE 2K22’s DLC.

According to a new report by Mike Straw of Sports Gamers Online, a minimum of four released superstars on August 6 were slated to be DLC for the upcoming game, with former NXT North American Champion Bronson Reed being the centerpiece of one of the DLC packages.

Reportedly, at least two DLC packages were scrapped over the last four months and there have been talks of switching to a roster update service instead of DLC package releases.

WWE games have featured downloadable content since 2008’s WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 release.

According to a previous report by Straw, WWE 2K22 is set to revitalize General Manager Mode which has not been seeing in the video game since 2007. Learn more here.
