Report: Rey Mysterio's Ankle Injury Is Legit; Mysterio Prays He Is Ready For WrestleMania

An update on the status of Rey Mysterio.

Yesterday, WWE announced that Rey Mysterio suffered an "ankle injury" during his match on Raw with Baron Corbin. Being that WWE broke the news, there was a reason for skepticism on whether the injury was real or not. Mysterio was scheduled to work last night's SmackDown against Andrade.

According to The Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer, Mysterio's ankle injury is legitimate.

There is no word on if the injury will keep him off this Sunday's WrestleMania card. Mysterio is currently scheduled to challenge Samoa Joe for the United States Title at the event. In the WWE report, Kayla Braxton stated that he would be re-evaluated prior to WrestleMania 35. Mysterio took to Instagram to post video of the injury:

In the build-up to the US Title match, Rey re-introduced his son Dominick to the WWE Universe, revealing that Dominick would be sitting ringside for his bout against Joe on Sunday. Dominick was part of a 2005 storyline between Rey and Eddie Guerrero, where the latter claimed that he was Dominick's real father.

Fightful will continue to update fans on Mysterio's status for Sunday as more is known.
