Report: Several Matches Being Planned For WWE Clash Of Champions

Although the full lineup for the upcoming Clash of Champions show has yet to be unveiled, several matches are already in the works.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, several title matches are reportedly set for the show, perhaps most notably one between Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman for the Universal title. Rollins currently holds the Universal title, but he is also the Raw Tag Team champion alongside Strowman after the impromptu duo won the titles from Gallows and Anderson in the main event of the August 19 episode of Raw.

Another world title match is also scheduled for the show, this one a SummerSlam rematch between Kofi Kingston and Randy Orton for the WWE Championship. The previous matchup between the two back in early August ended in a double countout, meaning Kingston retain his title. As far as other matches Meltzer reported that will also be on the show, Big E and Xavier Woods will defend their SmackDown Tag Team Championship against The Revival, Becky Lynch will defend her Raw Women's title against Sasha Banks and Shinsuke Nakamura will take on The Miz with the Intercontinental title on the line.

Meltzer also reported that a match between Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan could be heading towards Clash of Champions though that is far from being set in stone. That match had been potentially in the works since right before SummerSlam given that the two are in the middle of an angle that involved Bryan being a suspect in having a hand in backstage attacks against Reigns before SummerSlam.

The only match that has been announced for the show is Bayley vs. Charlotte for the SmackDown Women's title. The King of the Ring finals is also scheduled for that show, but the tournament is still in the first round.

Clash of Champions will take place September 15 from the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Fightful will have live coverage of the entire event, including a podcast after the show is done.
