Report: Shane Strickland's Lucha Underground Contract May Cause Delay In WWE Signing

An update on Shane Strickland.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that Shane Strickland's Lucha Underground contract may prevent him from signing with WWE in January. PWInsider had previously reported that Strickland would be finishing up with MLW in December and head to WWE the following month. Strickland was expected to be part of the new Performance Center recruits in January.

Lucha Underground just finished their fourth season on El Rey. There is no word on when, or if, the promotion will return to the network. Strickland worked under the name Killshot and lost a mask vs. mask bout against Son of Havoc at Ultima Lucha Cuatro. Following the bout, he was "relieved from duty."

While he waits for his LU contract to be resolved, Strickland will continue to work for MLW. He is scheduled to be part of their Dec. 13 and 14 tapings in Miami. He is also being advertised for MLW's Superfight tapings in Philadelphia on Feb. 2. On a recent edition of MLW Fusion, Strickland, in storyline, expressed his frustration with Court Bauer and MLW.
