Report: Sting Signed With AEW Because He Was Unhappy With His WWE Run

Sting was not pleased with his time and WWE, according to reports.

Sting shocked the world when he appeared on AEW Dynamite on December 2. This was the first time he appeared in a wrestling ring since losing to Seth Rollins at WWE Night of Champions in 2015 in a match that ended his in-ring career.

According to a new report from Louis Dangoor of WrestleTalk, the reason that the WCW icon appeared on Dynamite and signed a multi-year contract is that he was unhappy with how he was used by WWE and wants a proper final run for his audience.

Sting only had three matches in WWE, all of which took place in 2015. Of those matches, he lost two of them. His WWE debut was a loss to Triple H at WrestleMania 31, he would win a tag team match alongside John Cena on an episode of Raw and then lose to Seth Rollins in the aforementioned match.

In the most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that Sting was really interested in having a cinematic match with the Undertaker but it did not come to fruition.

Powerhouse Hobbs, one of the wrestlers in the ring on Wednesday when Sting made his debut, gave his thoughts on Sting's debut. You can learn more about that at this link.
