Report: WWE Contacted Joey Ryan; Wanted Him To Work In NXT Before Becoming A Coach

WWE was eying Joey Ryan.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, WWE contacted Joey Ryan after finding out he was released from his Lucha Underground contract, making him a free agent. Meltzer clarifies that no formal offer was made, but that they asked if Ryan was willing to move to Orlando to work in NXT before transitioning into a coaching role.

Ryan currently owns a home in Los Angeles, runs Bar Wrestling out of Los Angeles, and makes a good living on the Independent scene. Ryan reportedly makes more money through his Independent work than he would if he signed a contract with NXT.

Ryan is featured every week on Being The Elite and is currently involved in a storyline where people are wondering where Candice LeRae, Ryan's former tag team partner, is. On the show, he is hearing LeRae's voice in his head. Despite his involvement on BTE, he has not signed with AEW.
